Examples

Three notebooks, worked through.

Three worked examples — understanding a topic, making something from it and a shoebox of receipts — each step by step, and each saying what it doesn't do yet. Then Graphite beside Obsidian, Obsidian with Claude Code, and Gemini Notebook, with dated facts and when each is the better choice.

Worked examples

Each step by step, and what it doesn’t do yet.

  • Understand a topic

From a question to what you can explain.

Make a project for the question you want answered, write what you know and what you don't, find what's missing, and teach it back with the note closed. Then write it up from your own sentences and publish it. No scores, no streaks.

    1. Write it down
    2. Work it out
    3. Make something of it
  • Make something from it

From scattered notes to a first draft in your own words.

Give an article a project of its own, drop everything into the Inbox as it comes, and move each note in, or turn on File my Inbox and let Graphite file it. Find what's missing, teach it back, then have the Guide arrange a draft from your own sentences — and publish it or script it for a video.

    1. Write it down
    2. Work it out
    3. Make something of it
  • A shoebox of receipts

The receipts already on your Mac, added up.

Drop in the photos and PDFs of receipts already on your Mac. After a yes of its own, Graphite reads each one as printed, checks it on your device and files it by year beside the original. Receipts adds up each month, and exports a CSV and the originals.

    1. Drop them in
    2. Find them filed
    3. Add them up
